It snowed.  Again….

As I previously mentioned I am ok with this. My husband is not.  Since he grew up on the East Coast he has had more than his share of winters, when he was 17 he thought he had escaped them for good when he moved to Kauai.  Well, I think you can guess how that worked out in the end.

So today he sits by the window glaring at the new fallen snow and asks a suspiciously random question before going out to snow blow the driveway:

Him:  “Where do you think they keep Punxsutawney Phil when he is not making predictions that ruin my month?”

Me: “Well he is the fattest groundhog I have ever seen, so I would imagine he is someone’s pet the rest of the time”

*pause*

Him: “So you think he is probably not left unattended for any long periods of time.”

Me: “What exactly is your snow covered brain planning over there?!”

Him: “Nothing…”

Me: “Bullshit! You’re planning a hit on a rodent!

Him: “I’m not going to kill him!” (Then under his breath ) “I’m just going to rough him up a bit.  Only till he comes to his senses and stops seeing his stupid shadow. Which makes no sense anyway! (now almost shouting) If he has a shadow the sun is OUT and spring should be early!!!”

I hug him and rub his back. “The system is just chalk full of injustice and I’m sorry sweetie butI think you are giving the groundhog too much credit”

Finally giving in he mumbles “I know, I know… I guess I will start the fire and snow blow the driveway.”

“Good thinking”

But just in case, RUN PHIL RUN!!!

  1. The good news is it will all turn green again; not perpetually white well until next winter that is, but lets not think of that now, eh? Have you been to the PL? It helps this professor cope.
