If you are one of the many people to responded our lost cat post a few days ago with prayers and wishes for her safe return, it seems that they worked!

I got a text from my husband saying that he found Luna.  Thinking this was yet another black cat he saw in a local shelter I asked “where?”  To my surprise he wrote “In the driveway!!!”

I was floored.  She has been missing for two weeks; longer than any other time by far.  I had been trying not to give up hope, my husband never gives up.

When I got home I scooped her up and hugged her tight for about ten minuets, and she purred and kneaded my shoulder contentedly.  It was bliss.

She has lost weight and for such a small thing that is a little scary but otherwise she seems none the worse for wear.

If this has shown us nothing else it is that she really is that badass.  She is currently meowing pointedly to be let out and I’m going to abliger her.

How's that for an unintentional Halloween scene?
How’s that for an unintentional Halloween scene?

It was her choice to go and her choice to come back.

It still is.

That’s the thing about cats.  The thing that some of us love and some cannot understand but it is a definite “thing.”  A “cat thing” I suppose.

Maybe she was just showing she doesn’t need us.

Maybe it had nothing to do with us (far more likely.)

Maybe she felt winter is near and had one final walk-about before her long winter hibernation.

Maybe she found a golden ring and had to destroy it in the fires of a distant volcano.

Who knows? It’s a cat thing after all.

All I know is I am over the moon to have her home. The idea of not having a cat around was hard for me.  I thought of never seeing my friend again was beyond comprehension.

I’m going to let her out now and let’s all hope she comes back.

I am nowhere even close to done cuddling her yet.

Thank you all for your well wishes!
